Grove Place, home of dedicated homeowners, is the oldest continually occupied residential neighborhood in Downtown Rochester, NY. Its architectural mix attests to the changing tides that history has played in this tiny four block area.

Anchors on Gibbs Street include the magnificent row of townhouses dating from the mid-1870's and counter-pointed by the 1992 completion of the Eastman School of Music Living Center.

Running parallel to Gibbs, Windsor Street is address to a hand-full of small Victorian "cottages" that illustrate the working class single houses that originally made up the neighborhood. The larger "Stern Homestead" while of the era, is a newcomer to the street. This brick two-plus story single home was moved to its present site from what is now the Harrow East Parking lot several streets away.

Connecting these two boundaries is Selden Street with its concentration of award winning contemporary brick townhouses.

The mixture of commercial within the neighborhood adds to the true urban climate of the region. Tenants in the many apartments are likely to be affiliated with the music industry nearby. On pleasant days when windows are open, strains of instrumental practice sessions fill the air with everything from Bach to jazz.
