Grove Place Association

Meeting Minutes
Attendance: 34 Members, 2 guests
Meeting Minutes: Motion made and passed to approve October’s meeting minutes.
Announcement of Reception: To be held immediately after at the Fink’s.
Treasurer’s Report: No Treasurer’s report this month.
Neighborhood Report: Banners continue to be hung. Mark Petersen did repairs and maintenance on two neighborhood benches. A fence to conceal trash at 55 Windsor has been halted by the Preservation Board. No tenants yet for 145 University Ave. Work continues on 124 University. A drilling rig was sighted at 150 University, possible project for approval for mixed income residences. Kim Russell reported that Charlotte Square tenants began moving in November 15th. They are 20% leased at this time.
Security/Safety: Barb Wager reports there is a rise in larcenies this time of year. Be careful and aware of your surroundings as it is easy for criminals to hide weapons under heavy clothing. There were 2-3 cases of inappropriate touching reported in our neighborhood. Police strongly advise against giving money to panhandlers. We are still hoping to work with Erik Frisch, Transportation Specialist, to make the area around the Y safer for pedestrians. A strobe has been suggested as a possible solution.
Beautification/Artwork: Installation of the artwork on the front of the Martin’s home facing University Avenue is complete. Be sure to check it out. The sculpture Home Properties purchased for the public pocket park at Charlotte Square will be installed Friday December 2 at 5:30pm.
Jack Eisenberg attended the City of Rochester Comprehensive Master Plan at Tower 280 on November 16th.
Jeff Boscarino the owner of the newly opened East End Tavern told us he is looking forward to serving the neighborhood. They are a casual, upscale restaurant with entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays and the NFL Ticket for football on Sundays.
Bob DiPaola gave a presentation of the Gallina and Sato proposals for Parcel 5. Of the four proposals were submitted, Suzanne Mayer reached out to all four, they were the two that responded. There was lots of discussion around this subject. We should continue to follow this and other pending projects within the City Center and our neighborhood.
City Council Member Carolee Conklin informed us that nothing has been formally presented to them yet.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kim Pond
Secretary
